Ibuprofen and Children
Dimetapp Pain & Fever uses ibuprofen in the formulation, an ingredient which has been used to treat children’s pain and fever around the world.
Multiple studies have proven Ibuprofen to be an effective treatment for reducing fever in children. It is also effective in relieving pain commonly experienced in childhood, such as pain associated with cold and flu, sore throats, teething, earaches and headaches, as well as with immunisation. Because it’s effective and has a long track-record, doctors are increasingly recommending paediatric ibuprofen.
What is Pain?
No one likes the idea of a child in pain – but children will insist on testing the physical limits of their bodies. Young children react to pain in different ways. You should look for behaviours such as crying, facial changes, or sudden changes in their eating patterns. Some children become quiet and withdrawn, while others express pain by screaming or becoming completely immobile.
Any injury that can damage a child’s tissues — such as a sprain or strain — causes a pain impulse to be sent via the nervous system to the brain. The chemicals that signal pain can also cause swelling and inflammation in the tissues surrounding the injury.
In addition to sprains and strains, infants and children often experience pain associated with teething, immunisation and earaches.
Dimetapp Pain & Fever Relief can be used to provide fast and effective relief from childhood pain. Dimetapp Pain & Fever provides up to 8 hours of pain relief.
